Remember the batter should be slightly thicker than dosa batter and slightly thinner than idli batter. Now its time to making heat of cast iron tava or non-stick tawa with medium flame. After getting hot add few drops of oil on hot tawa and spread it using a halved potato or a halved small onion.

This process helps spreading of batter and also prevents it from sticking. Repeat the same process before making each Uttapam. When tawa is ready, pour one ladle batter and spread it in round shape by gently rotating the ladle in clockwise or anti-clockwise direction.

Make sure that batter spread is slightly thicker than a batter spread for Dosa. Now sprinkle 2-3 tablespoons chopped onion and 2-3 tablespoons chopped capsicum over it. Afterthat sprinkle 2 tablespoon chopped tomato and chopped green chilies over it also. Now its time to press the all vegetables over it with gently with the help of spatula.

Drizzle 2-teaspoon oil around the edge and cook it for approx. 3-4 minutes until color of the bottom surface turns into light golden brown. Now flip it gently and cook another side for a minute or until the bottom surface looks cooked.

Afterthat transfer it to a plate and repeat the same process for remaining batter for making Uttapam. Finally the Uttapam is ready to serve, you can serve it with coconut chutney, tomato onion chutney or green chutney.
